Tiramisu Latte

I’d like to share a cherished memory. While I was visiting some family, we went to an Italian restaurant. We were ordering dessert and I wanted to get tiramisu. My cousin was horrified and asked me why I wanted okra for dessert. I asked them what they were talking about and they explained how our mutual uncle told them that there was okra in tiramisu. With a puzzled look, I asked where he had heard this from. He said that tiramisu is made out of ladyfingers (a slang term from okra). My uncle, who immigrated from overseas, didn’t know that ladyfingers were also an Italian cookie. After a little bit of arguing and a little bit more Googling, we were able to clear up the confusion. And yes, every time we visit, we lovingly remind our uncle of his favorite dessert.

In honor of my uncle, we made a tiramisu latte. We used Crème Brulee Oolong, a top seller at Maya Tea! It has caffeine, but we opted for the low-caffeine leaves so it’s not as intense. Oolongs kind of exist as a step up from black teas as they have a powerful flavor with more nuance. Crème Brulee Oolong is a great starter tea in the world of Oolongs, as the beautiful flavors of jasmine, cinnamon, and Crème Brulee, come together to form a dessert tea. But when you make it into a Tiramisu latte, it gets even better. And no, you don't need ladyfingers--the cookie or the vegetable.

Bonfire Hot Cocoa
Bonfire Hot Cocoa

From the months of October to March, I desperately need my hot cocoa fix. As an adult, with my own money, I’ve decided to invest in cocoa bombs. And of course, I have to load up on the toppings. Crushed cookies, coconut, and some graham cracker bits make for a perfect sip.

Pecan Praline Syrup
Pecan Praline Syrup

I’m going to say something controversial. I like waffles more than pancakes. I’m going to say something even more controversial. I like both more than french toast. Don’t get me wrong, if it was up to me, I’d be enjoying all three at once, but I generally limit myself to one. Even if you’re on team pancakes or french toast, there is one thing that unites us all: syrup.
